The Bilt Palladium: Tune Out the Noise and Earn 3x on Everything

When Bilt launched its new card lineup in early 2026, the reaction in the points and miles world was skeptical at best. Podcasts picked it apart. Newsletters weren’t impressed. If you were following along, you might have walked away thinking the Bilt Palladium wasn’t worth your time.

I disagree. And I’ve got the points to prove it.

I’ve been a Bilt cardholder since the original card, paying rent and earning points for a couple of years. When the Bilt Palladium Card launched, I upgraded, and what I found was a straightforward, powerful everyday card that most reviewers undersold.

Start With the Basics

At the time I applied, the Palladium card carried a $495 annual fee and earned 2x points on all everyday purchases. Before you flinch at that number, here’s what came with it: $200 in Bilt Cash credited annually, a $400 hotel credit through the Bilt Travel Portal (issued in two $200 increments for stays of two nights or more), and Priority Pass lounge access for you and up to two guests at over 1,200 airports worldwide. The credits alone essentially covered the fee.

Bilt Cash is a separate currency the card earns alongside points, redeemable within the Bilt ecosystem for things like the Accelerator, housing points, travel credits, and more.

The welcome offer was strong too: an additional $300 in Bilt Cash upon approval, plus 50,000 bonus points and Gold Elite status after $4,000 in non-housing spend in the first 90 days.

The Part Nobody Is Talking About

The Palladium earns 2x on everything. But with a feature called the Point Accelerator, you can turn it into a 3x card, and that’s the part most of the coverage has glossed over.

Here’s how it works. When you select the Flexible Bilt Cash earning option, your card earns 4% back in Bilt Cash on every purchase. Spend $200 of that Bilt Cash (Bilt gives this to you at the beginning of the year) to activate the Accelerator and you earn an extra point per dollar on your next $5,000 in purchases, bringing your effective rate to 3x on everything, no category restrictions.

All you need to do is swipe to enable the Points Accelerator in the Bilt app.

Here’s what makes it elegant: spend $5,000 at the boosted rate and you’ve earned another $200 in Bilt Cash. That funds the next activation. The cycle is self-funding. Activate it up to five times a year and you’re earning 3x on up to $25,000 in annual spending. That’s 75,000 points that could be worth over $1,500 depending on how you redeem them.

That’s a genuinely competitive rate. The Capital One Venture X Rewards credit card earns 2x on most purchases at a lower annual fee, but with the Accelerator running, the BILT Palladium card earns 50% more points on everything.

What About Housing?

The Palladium can also earn points on rent and mortgage payments, and you can use Bilt Cash to unlock those housing points instead of — or alongside — the Accelerator. Depending on your situation, that might deliver better value.

But here’s the thing: you don’t have to go there. If you want a powerful everyday card without complexity, just activate the Accelerator and use the card for everything. The housing features are optional. This card rewards people who engage with it, but the core value is there even if you keep it simple.

Bottom Line

The Bilt Palladium is a 2x everyday card that runs like a 3x card when you use the Accelerator. Its credits offset the annual fee, lounge access is a legitimate perk, and Bilt points are among the most valuable transferable currencies available. The housing features are real, but they’re not the whole story — and for many cardholders, they may not be the story at all.

If you’re looking for a premium card that earns serious points without a complicated category strategy, this one delivers.
